Gas Prices WTF!

Here are 2 graph's that show the trends of Gas and Crude pricing.
The graphs were compiled with data from the government.

In 1991 the price of a gallon of gas was $1 dollar
and the price for crude was $20 a barrel...

in 2007 the price of fuel is $3 a gallon but the price of crude
is $70 a barrel...
------------------------------------------------------
That doesn't make sense because... the price of gas should be $3.50
a gallon... compared to the trend of the price per barrel.

something fishy is going on here folks!
